Position Summary

We are seeking a Intermediate Electrical Designer to work out of our Edmonton office. The Intermediate Electrical Designer plays a crucial role in the electrical engineering team, contributing to the design and implementation of electrical systems for various projects. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a solid understanding of electrical design principles and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Develop detailed electrical designs, drawings, and specifications based on project requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to create electrical plans, schematics, and layouts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and detailed electrical drawings.
  • Prepare and maintain drawing packages, including plans, elevations, and details.
  • Work closely with other disciplines (mechanical, civil, etc.) to coordinate electrical design with overall project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure designs align with project timelines and budgets.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that electrical designs meet industry standards and client requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews and participate in quality control checks.
  • Provide technical support to other team members and project stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve issues related to electrical design during the project lifecycle.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • A bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in electrical design, particularly in the context of building services, power distribution systems, or industrial applications.
  • Proficiency in electrical design principles, including understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code), power systems analysis, lighting design, and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to complete projects from conception to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, architects, engineers from other disciplines, and members of the design team.
  • Mentoring junior staff, providing guidance on complex design issues, and taking a leadership role in project teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Electrical construction and commissioning experience would be an asset.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
