We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Intermediate Design Engineer based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

The Intermediate Design Engineer performs designs and creates mechanical drawings in accordance with Conair and Transport Canada Civil Aviation standards. Be a valued team member of bidding, preliminary design and execution stages of Design-Build projects as well as design assignments.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Strive to consistently act in a manner which reflects Conair Group Inc.'s culture and values. Draft and arrange mechanical drawings in accordance with the Conair DAPM, and Transport Canada Civil Air Regulations Write and review documentation in the form of technical manuals, stress analysis, system analysis, manufacturing drawings, and certification reports Participate in the development of engineering data packages and technical manuals in support of airworthiness certification and other department purposes. Perform detailed review of design drawings, with a focus on cost effective manufacturing. Strive for continuous process improvement, identify and report areas where processes or communications can be improved Apply principles of project management in performing engineering activities. Support Engineering Department marketing and sales efforts. Support Procurement and Quality in vendor selection process Provide design and engineering support to internal and external customers. Participate in the administrative activities of the Engineering Department. Perform other duties as advised by the Director of Engineering Manage 3rd party engineers and engineering firms to provide quality deliverables on time and to a high standard. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to support project deadlines Mentoring and providing functional guidance to more junior design engineers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Display a detailed understanding of good design practice, seek out cost efficiencies and realize the constraints of constructability in fabrication and installation. Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and Solidworks software. Problem solving and troubleshooting skills are a must. Excellent oral and written communication skills required Able to work productively with minimum supervision in a busy office environment as part of a larger integrated team.

Education and Experience

B.Sc., M.S. or P. ENG. in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 10+ years of experience in engineering design and drafting. (Aerospace industry experience preferred.) Aerial Firefighting products knowledge would be an asset. Experience in a Manufacturing experience is an asset.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship or permanent residency)
