The opportunity: Reporting to the Manager of Application Development the Intermediate Database Administrator is primarily responsible for participating in the analysis, development and testing of new and/or modified solutions for clients. The Intermediate Database Administrator also provides maintenance and support to existing systems and participates in quality improvement activities. The qualifications and experience we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for: \xc2\xb7 Bachelor\'s degree or a Community College Diploma in a directly related discipline is required. \xc2\xb7 Minimum three years\' experience working on a database team with enterprise level systems in a large business environment required. \xc2\xb7 Must have experience with Agile software development practices and utilizing industry standard tools (e.g. : JIRA). \xc2\xb7 Must have experience in implementing and utilizing DevOps for CI/CD using industry standard tools (e.g. : Git, Jenkins, GitLab). \xc2\xb7 Must have experience supporting, monitoring, and patching Oracle server databases as well as one of the following: MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL. \xc2\xb7 Must have experience with writing and tuning SQL queries and stored procedures. \xc2\xb7 Must have experience with batch scripting languages such as bash, crontab, and batch scheduling tools. \xc2\xb7 Must have knowledge of creating/executing test scripts and test plans. \xc2\xb7 Knowledge with automated testing software would be an asset Knowledge of software development with Java/J2EE. \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of Python would be an asset. \xc2\xb7 Experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for one or more database platforms would be an asset. \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of the Universities application portfolio and experience in business-critical applications would be an asset. \xc2\xb7 Familiarity with cloud computing such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure would be an asset. \xc2\xb7 An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. \xc2\xb7 Must be self-motivated and possess excellent problem-solving skills. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrated teamwork/collaboration skills required. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrated strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex systems issues is required. \xc2\xb7 Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with users of varying levels of technical expertise is required. \xc2\xb7 Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and schedule complex projects and tasks is essential. \xc2\xb7 Ability to act as a consultant to clients and other staff members is essential. \xc2\xb7 Ability to coach and mentor junior staff required. \xc2\xb7 Ability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships required. \xc2\xb7 Proven technical aptitude with ability to learn new systems quickly required. \xc2\xb7 Involvement with local IT user communities would be an asset. \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of ITIL fundamentals would be an asset. \xc2\xb7 Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required. \xc2\xb7 Must be available to work occasional overtime as required.
