JOB DESCRIPTION



We're looking for an Intermediate Bookkeeper/accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate has worked for a creative office. The position is part-time, 4 days/week, 9am to 3pm.

REQUIREMENTS



Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or related field Bookkeeping certification - CPB 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized business or accounting firm. Experience with full-cycle bookkeeping, including A/P, A/R, payroll, bank reconciliations and month-end processes. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online/Desktop Strong Microsoft Excel skills Comfortable working with cloud-based systems and document management tools Solid understanding of accounting principles and general ledger management Familiarity with GST/PST/HST filings and payroll remittances Experience with reconciliations (bank, credit card, intercompany) Strong verbal and written communication skills Can explain financial information in a professional and approachable way High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines Ability to work independently and as part of a team Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information Adaptability in a fast-paced and evolving work environment Experience with year-end preparation and working with external accountants is an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES



Ensure books are up to date and accurate:

o Reconcile all bank and credit card accounts

o Verify accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R)

o Post adjusting entries for accruals, depreciation and corrections (if trained to do so)

Prepare key year-end reports, such as:

o Trial Balance

o General Ledger

o Income Statement (Profit & Loss)

o Balance Sheet

o Aged Receivables and Payables

Organize documentation for the accountant:

o Payroll summaries and tax filings

o Supporting documents for any significant transactions

o Provide all necessary reports and backups to help the accountant complete the formal year-end financials and corporate tax return

CRA remittances:

o Payroll source deductions (CPP, EI and income tax) on a semi-monthly basis

o GST filings

o WCB premiums

T4 preparations - Has good knowledge about payroll regulations

Time Sheets:

o Prepare report for review by Principals, make corrections when required

o Keep projects in QB organized and maintain standard

Bi-monthly invoices (progress billing):

o Maintain billing binder and review with Principals once a month

Prepare retainers and deposit requests

Coordinate with the lawyer's office to ensure annual filings are completed on time

Maintain an orderly filing system

Maintain positive, professional relationships with clients and suppliers through clear and courteous communication regarding invoicing, payments and account reconciliation

Contribute to the overall efficiency and growth of the business by maintaining accurate financial records, identifying trends or inconsistencies and providing practical insights that support informed decision making

This role will also help support the Office Manager when needed, along with a few other tasks as they come up.
