About the role



Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Systems, eHealth Saskatchewan is looking for a highly skilled Business Analyst who is self-motivated, a great team player, and possesses excellent problem-solving skills. This role is well-suited for someone who takes pride in work which directly improves patient care, supports families, and strengthens the broader community.


In this role, the business analyst will have the exciting opportunity to gather requirements, shape process and ensure positive outcomes on implementation projects and initiatives serving health system partners.


The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where responsibilities shift from day to day, but will primarily center on documenting business processes, gathering and refining requirements, and translating them into clear, actionable specifications. The ideal candidate will also manage or coordinate small to medium-sized projects and work closely with customers, vendors, and leadership to support strategic roadmaps and implement solutions that enhance healthcare across the province.

Typical daily duties



The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following key duties:

Analyze and document current business processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders, including project managers, developers, solution architects, etc., to ensure requirements are fully understood and implemented. Develop test strategies and plans, and coordinate testing activities. Assist in the development of business cases to support decision-making. Gather, validate, and refine both business and technical requirements from stakeholders. Manage or coordinate small to medium-scale projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and outcomes are met. Contribute to the ongoing development of system training and support materials and ensure that user documentation is maintained. Clearly communicate project requirements and propose solution recommendations to stakeholders in a professional manner. Develop and deliver presentations, reports, and documentation to ensure stakeholders have clarity and alignment throughout project lifecycles.

What we are looking for



The knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through the completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related area of study. An IIBA Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA) or CBAP with an equivalent combination of experience will also be considered.


In addition to the educational requirements, you will also bring a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Business Analyst or in a similar role in an integrated support environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Additional skills include:

Understanding of database concepts, theories and principles. Strong requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation skills. Proficiency with tools such as MS Office Suite, Visio, Jira, or equivalent. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Basic understanding of custom-built applications and commercial software integrations. Understanding of testing principles, including UAT and system integration testing. A strong technical background, experience with facilitation and training. Experience managing or coordinating project activities. Experience in the integration of healthcare IT applications with a focus on common EHR systems, interoperability standards are an asset; and ITIL Certification is considered an asset.

Ability to write a variety of detailed, accurate and clear (technical) material such as user, systems and requirements documentation and procedures, project plans, letters, requests for proposals, feasibility studies, recommendations and reports, at a level appropriate to the target groups; Excellent written skills to communicate and present options and alternatives, and bring forward recommendations to both clinical and IT professionals; and Excellent documentation skills to produce proposals, charters, business requirements, test plans and schedules.

Ability to independently interpret, comprehend and apply technical instructions and concepts to successfully acquire, install, modify, configure and maintain hardware and software components and administer networks; Ability to diagnose technical problems such as delays, malfunctions and errors in order to determine the true cause of the problem and provide a (workable/reasonable/optimal) solution in a reasonable timeframe.

Ability to create an environment that recognizes, supports, respects and welcomes diversity of employees and clients; A proven track record of excellent interpersonal skills to lead, develop, and manage extensive consultative and co-operative working relationship with program managers, senior managers, and partners responsible for planning, research, and information systems, and with other provincial agencies, jurisdictions, and/or the federal government.

Ability to design new or adapt existing systems/applications taking into account design alternatives, business requirements, and cost, resource and time constraints; Convert business requirements into technical specifications to implement solutions, tools, and business processes Ability to create and or modify a sequence of computer instructions in order to compile, link, build and test computer executables that meet design requirements within established guidelines; A proven track record to quickly and adeptly acquire knowledge of information technology architectures including: integration and application software, interoperability standards, database, subsystem components and software.
