Intermediate Accountant

Job Description

We're a well-established, family-founded CPA firm based in Mount Pleasant, Vancouver, known for our personalized service and long-standing client relationships. As our practice continues to grow and modernize, we're looking for a versatile Intermediate Accountant to support a diverse range of clients across corporate, personal, and not-for-profit sectors.

This role is based in the office five days a week.

What You'll Do



You'll work across a wide range of accounting and tax functions, including:

Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software Record and reconcile A/P, A/R, bank and credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts Prepare and file personal (T1) tax returns, including sole proprietors and self-employed clients Prepare and file corporate (T2) tax returns for small to mid-sized businesses Complete and submit GST/HST returns and prepare T4s, T5s, and related summaries Prepare and file T3 trust returns, including calculating income and distributions Communicate with clients to gather documentation, explain filings, and answer financial questions Provide guidance on deductions, compliance, and CRA deadlines Assist with CRA inquiries and audit support when needed Liaise professionally with clients, vendors, and financial institutions Stay updated on CRA regulations, tax law changes, and industry best practices Carry out general administrative duties and manage client communications as required

Skill & Knowledge Requirements



Strong knowledge or extensive experience in:

Caseware or equivalent working papers software Profile or equivalent, such as Tax Prep Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Accounting terminology & financial processes Journal entries and general ledger maintenance Reconciliations, trial balance preparation & year-end closing procedures Working paper preparation and documentation Corporate and personal tax return preparation
Basic knowledge or some experience in:

DT Max, QuickBooks Accounting, QuickBooks Enterprise solutions, Jazzit and Adobe Acrobat (preferred, but not essential)*
Review engagement standards (CSRE 2400) Tax regulations and CRA standards Sales tax reporting and filings (GST/HST, PST) Payroll calculation and reporting, including source deductions and T4s Preparation of compiled financial information under CSRS 4200 Understanding of Audit Standards (CASs)

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree or college diploma, preferably in accounting, finance, or a related field CPA designation is preferred, but not mandatory With CPA designation: Minimum 2 years of recent accounting experience, or a combination of relevant education and experience Without CPA designation: Minimum 5 years of recent accounting experience, or a combination of relevant education and experience Recent graduates or CPA students with strong academic performance or relevant experience are welcome to apply

Salary: $60,000-$77,000 commensurate with experience, education, and overall fit for the role.
