Job Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team (CPA firm). The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing clients' financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing insightful analysis to support financial decision-making. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a solid understanding of corporate accounting and tax principles.

Core Responsibilities



Preparation and review of year-end reporting packages, compilation financial statements and tax provisions, for private companies. Preparation and review of working paper files for income tax for personal, corporate and trust returns. Maintaining client files to ensure accurate and timely completion of returns and schedules. Ensuring follow-up on notices of (re) assessments. Working knowledge of payroll is required. Preparation of external filings such as HST, T4's, T4A, T5's, NR4, T1's, T2's and T3's; Respond to CRA enquiries on behalf of client. Preparation and filing of different types of GST/HST rebates. Communicate with clients as well as Canada Revenue Agency and other relevant ministries to address and resolve client matters. Preparation of business plan and projections for new clients. Establish and maintain relationship with clients.

ADVANCED WORK (AT LATER STAGE):



Working with the team on sale and purchase of business transactions, due diligence, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and other tax consulting opportunities. Participating in a variety of projects in various industries such as medical, dentistry, legal services, real estate and technology. Must be a team player and provide support to the team members and junior staff in relevant tasks. Refer to prior court cases, relevant tax legislation, CRA policies, and guidance to support the client issues. Occasional bookkeeping duties including preparation or review of investment account reconciliations. Perform analysis of complex accounting issues.

Background Skills/Qualification:



Post-secondary education in accounting. Proven experience in accounting or a related field is essential. Advanced computer skills, including strong experience in using Case Ware, Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Office, QuickBooks and Profile. Able to prioritize with the flexibility to manage various workload demands. Knowledge of accounting principles. Proactive problem-solving, analytical and judgment skills. MUST be a team player. Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
