Duties:
  • Responsible for developing operational policy solutions and strategy for connecting customers to
the transmission and distribution (T&D) electrical system.

  • Researches policy and strategy issues, prepares discussion papers, supports interactions and
negotiations with internal and external stakeholder groups on matters relating to the application of
T&D interconnection tariffs, extension policies, electrical inspection/connections/ disconnections,
customer charges and other issues relating to functions.

  • Supports the preparation and defense of filings with the BC Utilities Commission.

  • Prepares responses to external requests for information.

  • Manages confidential Customer and specialty Agreements.

  • Thorough knowledge of BC Hydro interconnections processes and requirements for distribution
load customers.

  • Support external stakeholder engagement sessions on updates to T&D interconnection policies

  • Lead, coordinate, consult and collaborate with other internal BC Hydro departments such as
Distribution Design, Regulatory, Key Accounts, Program & Contract Management, Engineering,
Legal, and external bodies as appropriate.

  • Review proposed and existing business processes to ensure compliance with Tariff related
policies.

  • Investigate and analyze unusual problems, evaluate risks and apply innovative solutions.



  • Develops and executes strategies to maximize synergies across multiple projects which are
related or have similar issues.

  • Coordinate communication process with other BC Hydro departments to develop and implement
changes to new or existing policy instructions, as identified or assigned, and to recommend
solutions or policy changes to meet business needs; develops briefings and business cases for
senior management and implements recommended solutions or policy changes should conflicts
surface.

  • Formulate responses to customer complaints for review and approval inside and outside of
Transmission & Distribution



Qualifications:


  • A degree or diploma in Engineering or business/commerce

  • A minimum of 8 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a utility environment. Experience in analytical roles in
policy or strategic planning is preferred

  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving for complex and multi-faceted business and
financial, operational and technical, and legal and regulatory issues.

  • Strong relationship, facilitation and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide variety
of subject matter experts.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into
simple and understandable presentations

  • Work efficiently and effectively with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge and experience of the system, customer interconnection processes, policies and
business practices

  • Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and other legislation impacting customers

Flexible work model role definitions

Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.

Resident \xe2\x80\x93 Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid \xe2\x80\x93 May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote \xe2\x80\x93 Works from home 4+ days per week
