Through the Integrated Living Services program, funded by PDD, we match adults living with developmental disabilities with individuals and families in the Calgary community.
We are seeking a caring, energetic, and compassionate Supportive Roommate (Individual or Couple) to share their home and provide quality support for a mature female client who is fairly self-sufficient, enjoys recreational and leisure activities, and values maintaining an active lifestyle. The client will require support navigating through an end-of-life medical journey. The client currently attends a day program and is independent in using public transportation; however, she will require retraining once she transitions to her new home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The DDRC is looking for passionate, driven individuals who live our values and can work independently.
As Integrated Living Practitioner (ILP), you will be responsible for maintaining and promoting the well-being, uniqueness and independence of each client, encouraging clients to develop individual skills, talents and abilities while maintaining their health and safety requirements. This may include but is not limited to providing physical care, menu planning and meal preparation, medication administration, day-to-day house management and documentation.
CRITERIA:
Outgoing, energetic, female or couple, available to provide support when client is home and future 24-hour monitoring, if or when needed
Reside in the
NW quadrant of Calgary
Knowledge about community resources, programs and recreational events
Able to model appropriate social and daily living skills
Knowledge or experience with
Positive Behaviour Supports (PBS)
, or similar approaches is an asset
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Willing to collaborate with the client's network of friends and family to maintain her active social, work and leisure life
Ability to converse fluently with the client in Cantonese
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
Provide daily living assistance (personal care, grocery shopping, meal preparation, household tasks)
Support the client in accessing community activities such as the library, walks, and recreational opportunities when need be, she is independent
Encourage and assist with the development and maintenance of meaningful interpersonal relationships
Provide early morning, evening, and weekend supports, ensuring flexibility to meet the client's needs
Offer safe transportation to medical appointments and community activities
Promote client choice, independence, and dignity while ensuring safety and supervision
