Accountabilities:
Signs in for shift and reads all Logbook entries Ensure enforcement of house rules, including behavior modification discussions, giving/reviewing warnings and behavioral contracts Handles the admission, orientation for new intakes. Read and review house rules with new intake and complete the Triage and Survey Monkey Enters all Intakes and Discharges on SMIS, process intake paperwork and upload necessary documents on SMIS Accurately records day-to-day happening using appropriate methods; maintains logbooks and completes incident reports Monitors the activities of the residents and maintains availability for personal, practical and moral support Provides the residents with their stored medication having them complete the medication distribution form, including providing safe storage and recording of prescribed medication, as requested by the resident. Liaises with internal referral sources and external agencies as needed Make announcements to residents as needed Write friendly reminders to residents who are not in the building and follow up accordingly Respond to and direct all telephone inquiries/voicemails accordingly Record all facility issues and concerns on the appropriate Work Order/Supply Order document Assists and participates in resident functions on special occasions or activities Place used walkie talkie on charger at the end of each shift - turn walkies off before charging at the end of shift Tidy front desk/intake area throughout the shift Assist residents who are triaged at level 1 and/or those without counsellor with any resources or referrals that maybe required Follow rotational tasks posted monthly schedule posted on Communication Board in the Intake Office Approve overnight passes and curfew extensions and bedrest Emergency Plan roleTake on role as Fire Captain each shift during emergency situations as per Emergency Plan; or Take on role as Marshall each shift during emergency situations as per Emergency Plan; or Take on role as Marshall each shift during emergency situations as per Emergency Plan

Update short and long room sheet after each intake and admission Print out SMIS bed log at end of shift and ensure that SMIS, the bed roster and Logbook match all shift activity, and ensure SMIS Queue is up to date Keep a record of bag lunch, late dinner requests and food allergies (update kitchen board accordingly) Announce mealtimes, secure volunteers for tidying up and to say Grace Greet Visitors, complete Covid-10 screening, and direct as necessary Assist residents with signing up for television, computer, and laundry time and monitor usage and provide support as needed Contact elevator repair as needed Keeps a record of TTC tokens and keys distributed and confirm how many tokens and keys are remaining before and at the conclusion of the shift Mail needs to be checked by management before distributing to residents. Mail to be returned to sender to be handed to Intake Supervisor Oversee mealtimes and provide supervision in the basement area during breakfast, morning snacks and lunch Distribute clothing and personal hygiene items as requested by the residents Carries out wellness checks throughout the building in accordance with policies and procedures Bag/label residents' belongings and place in storage room that have been left behind according to policies and procedures Cleaning/disinfect beds and make available for new intake in the absence of housekeeping Complete rounds at 9am to make sure residents leave their rooms and conduct rounds with the purpose of addressing any health and safety hazards Complete rounds at 3pm, 8:30pm, 10:30pm to make sure residents leave their rooms and conduct rounds with the purpose of addressing any health and safety hazards Complete bed check and rounds at 12:30am/3am and 6am and discharge as needed, as per policy and procedure Document all rounds accordingly Clean up after snacks and wash dishes and cups used from snack. Distribute late meals, bag lunches, resident food boxes, coffee/tea, and serve snacks (7am and 10am) Clean resident fridge - go over residents' items and make sure expired or non-processed food is stored. Oversee mealtimes and provide supervision in the dining room area during breakfast, morning snacks and lunch Oversee mealtime and provide supervision in the dining room area during dinner and late snacks Wash trays used by catering when ER cooks are not onsite Empty garbage cans in the dining room as needed Sweep/mop kitchen area as needed Distribute clothing and personal hygiene items as requested by the residents Ensure shower room is clean and disinfected, liaise with housekeeping as needed Clean up after snacks and wash dishes and cups used from snack. Accept and document in the communication log donations received; place donations in storage bins to be washed, sorted and stored in Donation Room
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
Internal:Reports directly to the Intake Supervisor Indirectly reports to the Support Services Supervisor, Assistant Director and/or the Director Develop close working relationships with all staff within the organization including Housekeeper, Janitors, Counsellor, Housing Worker, Community Follow-Up Worker, Chaplain, Administration and the Management Team

External:Establish and maintain good working relationships with external agencies to make the appropriate referrals.

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:Reports directly to: Director

WORKING CONDITIONS:This is permanent full-time position based on 42 hours per week. Works in a shelter environment There may be frequent interruptions and multitasking Equipment and general office noise (i.e. people talking, phones ringing) May interact with clients with erratic/aggressive behaviors May deal with angry and/or abusive people May deal with verbal abuse

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent's work environment is typically in the entire facility and surrounding property designated.
The Incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions:May interact with clients with erratic/aggressive behaviors May deal with angry and/or abusive people May deal with verbal abuse Odors May deal with bodily fluids May encounter sharps, safe drug supplies May deal with onsite pest infestations (bed bugs etc)

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS
The incumbent may be exposed to the risk of moderate to severe injury or illness due to:Physical attacks by others Exposure to infectious diseases Exposure to toxic chemicals Moving Objects Sharp Objects (i.e., needle pricks) Electrical Hazards Repetitive strain injuries (e.g., back, wrist)

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):Universal precautions Use gloves Use ear/eye protection Eye wash stations Fume masks where appropriate Appropriate face mask (either medical or N95 and would be based on IPAC protocols)

HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIESComply with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations Adhere to the agency's Health and Safety Program Report accidents/injuries/workplace hazards in a timely manner Conduct facility security/safety rounds on a regular basis according to policy Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies of the agency

education and experience Qualifications:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:High School Graduate with further education in Social Sciences Field or equivalent experience Certification in CPR/First Aid Certification in Crisis Intervention Police check clearance

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:Basic computer and clerical skills Fluent in written and spoken English Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility. Prior related experience, including experience with frontline work in a social service setting Knowledge and understanding of Homelessness, Addictions Counselling and Mental Health

Skills and Capabilities (examples provided below):Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Possess excellent problem-solving skills Ability to function as a team member Adhere to standards that are consistent with the values & philosophy of The Salvation Army and Evangeline Residence Valid Driver's License an asset

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $25.46 to $26.66 with a maximum of $27.86.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
