Blume Speech and Language is seeking a compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming
Instructor Therapist / Behaviour Therapist
to join our growing team. This role involves working 1:1 with neurodivergent children to support communication, regulation, and life skills using evidence-based and strengths-based approaches. The ideal candidate embraces neurodiversity, values collaboration with families, and is committed to fostering autonomy, dignity, and meaningful growth for each child.
Responsibilities
Support individualized programming that builds on each child's strengths, interests, and developmental profile using neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed practices.
Collaborate with the Speech-Language Pathologists, BCBAs, and families to implement holistic communication and regulation strategies.
Collect data and track progress on goals related to communication, play, regulation, and functional life skills.
Build strong therapeutic relationships grounded in trust, connection, and respect for each child's autonomy.
Participate in team meetings, caregiver training, and ongoing professional development.
Adapt sessions to each child's sensory and emotional needs, creating a safe and affirming environment.
Maintain accurate session notes and contribute to progress reports as part of interdisciplinary case management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with neurodivergent children (e.g., autism, ADHD, speech/language differences) in therapeutic or educational settings.
Demonstrated commitment to neurodiversity-affirming and child-led practices.
Strong collaboration skills and a respectful, family-centered communication style.
Ability to collect and reflect on client progress data in a non-intrusive and compassionate manner.
Understanding of developmental differences and willingness to support communication and regulation over compliance.
Ongoing desire to learn, receive feedback, and grow in inclusive, affirming practice.
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 - 10 per week
