What youll do
The Theatre Department at Capilano University is looking for a part-time instructor to teach sound operation, theory and design for the theatre. The instructor will work in the Technical Theatre Program and will also work with students in Acting for Stage and Screen, Musical Theatre and the Costuming for Stage and Screen programs.

This instructor will have superb knowledge and experience in Qlab, digital and analogue sound console operations, recording, as well as audio creation software like Audacity or Pro tools etc. The successful candidate will have a solid background in the creation of music, sound effects, underscoring, and recording for the stage. They will also have experience in the mixing of large scale musicals. The successful candidate will also support the operation, and sound design of 3 plays and 1 Musical as part of the Theatre Departments Blueshore Theatre Mainstage season.

Other responsibilities will include attending production meetings, department meetings and rehearsals as needed.

What youll bring

• A Bachelors degree, certification or equivalent qualification from an accredited college or training program is required. Professional experience will be considered.
• A Masters in a relevant area is preferred.
• Previous teaching at a University or post-secondary institution is preferred.
• 5 Years of Sound Design experience required.
• Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills, demonstrate patience and leadership skills, be energetic, driven, creative, and dependable.
• Proven ability to teach adult learners and to create a learning environment that supports a diverse student population.
