Today, we\xe2\x80\x99re focused on providing exceptional customer service and ensuring we are building safe communities where we live, work and play.It\xe2\x80\x99s an exciting time to join the team at Hydro One!General Accountabilities:Reporting to the Training Specialist- Safety, the successful candidate will support the corporate health and safety goals in establishing and maintaining an injury free workplace. Accountabilities will include the preparation and delivery of lesson material relating to the delivery of the safety training program for all lines of business within Hydro One. This would include training in identifying hazards, the selection, use and maintenance of safety equipment and rescue procedures. Provide supervision and instruction of initial, and continuing training of learners from orientation to the fully qualified level. Prepare and administer written and practical assessments, and report findings in written evaluations. Program delivery is provided in various settings including Work Methods and Training classrooms, Hydro One facilities, and the other facilities across the province. Other duties may include:Plan, organize, and deliver training to Hydro One and external staff, and when required act as a subject matter expert (SME) for the more complex aspects of the Safety training programs.Review and/or prepare deliverable materials associated with all aspects of training for employees in other Hydro One Lines of Business (LoBs).Receive assignments and outlines of requirements from your Supervisor. Perform necessary research to update training products and maintain competencies.Utilize theoretical and practical application for instructing all employee groups at Hydro One.Requires collaboration with Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU), Work Methods and other organizations.Reach mutual agreements with customers for changes or additions to lesson content and course coverage that would be beneficial to the training program.Assign work to students attending training courses using comprehensive instructions and direction.Provide advice and guidance to learners, and assist in resolving problem areas, or clarify instruction not completely understood.Maintain order during training sessions and report issues to the appropriate Supervisor.Set up laboratories and other training areas for practical exercises.Ensure course content is current via subject matter expertsAssist Program Managers and Specialists as they prepare, monitor, and verify budgets and expenditures related to training programs.Ensure training information is consistent among instructors and available on the Training Document System (TDS).Visit Company locations across the province to observe equipment in operation, and the methods, techniques, and procedures in practice under current modes of operation, in order to be familiar with new and legacy equipment and methods.Maintain fleet, workshop, field, and learning centre equipment in good working order.Clean and maintain training equipment and supplies.Plan and book all travel arrangements for training purposes. Arrange shipping for training equipment.Requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time while instructing, or making presentations.Must have previous safety training experiencePerform other duties as required.Selection Criteria:Essential Competencies:Must have a demonstrated commitment to Health and Safety.Must have an exceptional Health and Safety record.Must have experience with presentation and instruction to both small and large groups.Requires experience with computer applications and teaching techniques to prepare and format lesson materials and evaluations.Requires experience with current teaching aids and methods to provide effective training sessions and accurately measure student progress.Requires knowledge and ability to demonstrate hands-on safe operation of Transport and Work Equipment (TWE) used in the construction, operation and maintenance of power system equipment.Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.Requires competency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Sharepoint.Requires the ability to locate documents and records in the Hydro One learning management system (HOLMS), as well as the HODS and NODS document systems.Requires the ability to coordinate and execute multiple activities effectively, efficiently and independently.Demonstrated commitment to our Health & Safety programs.Supervisory experience is considered an assetRequired knowledge/skill is normally obtained through the experience in the maintenance trades to be familiar with the operation and maintenance of the type of safety and work equipment used at Hydro One.
