The Best Practice Coordinator - Immunization & Communicable Disease Control supports public health staff who administer immunizations in well-child, adult, schools, influenza and mass immunization clinics. In this role, you will integrate patient and family-centred care principles, demonstrate skills in performance development and incorporate best practices for immunization and school program delivery. In coordination with clinical educators, you will support the learning needs of staff and teams virtually and in person. You will participate in the process for staff competency evaluations across the zone and provide input to the manager and feedback to the employee. Reporting to the Manager, responsibilities include assessment, planning, developing, organizing, delivering, and evaluation of zone immunization processes while supporting the achievement of business unit goals. You will ensure zone resources related to CDC and clinical practice standards are in alignment with current Provincial immunization policy and standards. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work collaboratively with interprofessional teams as you represent the Central Zone on provincial and local committees. As a liaison between zone and provincial CDC teams, you will provide front-line employees with processes related to Notifiable Diseases and outbreaks. Working with other internal teams, you will provide operational support for the administration of biologicals. Responding to challenges in delivering health services in a variety of settings, you will demonstrate critical thinking, conflict resolution, change management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ongoing quality improvement is an expectation, bringing forward ideas to managers, public health staff and stakeholders. Site location is negotiable within the Central zone.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
