Academic Services brings together several academic development, delivery, and quality assurance units with a common goal: student success. Academic Services provides unique, flexible support programing designed to help learners succeed in their chosen SAIT career program.

The Opportunity



We are currently hiring casual instructors to teach Communication and Liberal Arts Studies courses starting in Winter 2026. Subject matter domains include:HUMN 2010 - Intro to Humanities SOCI 2020 - Pop Culture


Most courses are scheduled to run as daytime offerings and can be scheduled Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The courses are taught in person at SAIT's main campus in Calgary. Reporting to the Academic Chair, Communication and Liberal Arts Studies, you have a passion for teaching diverse students, thrive on sharing knowledge, and enjoy coaching students to succeed and think critically. You will be responsible for teaching communication and interpersonal skills through an experiential (task-based) learning lens.

Previous teaching experience at SAIT would be an asset/preferred.

Note:

SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.

The Role



+ Instruct Communication and Liberal Arts Studies courses + Prepare in-class and study materials for learners
+ Evaluate student progress and achievement providing timely, formative feedback
+ Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
+ Stay abreast of emerging pedagogical issues and educational technologies
+ Attend department meetings and SAIT's instructor training program

Qualifications & Experience



+ For Intro to the Humanities and Pop Culture, Master's degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences + Minimum of 3 years' post-secondary teaching experience in a relevant discipline
+ Graduate education and/or work experience in adult education would be an asset
+ Good computer skills and experience teaching technology-enhanced courses are required
+ Subject-matter expertise in the Humanities (with a related Master's degree in Humanities)
+ Subject-matter expertise in Social Sciences (with a related Master's degree in the Social Sciences)
+ Proficiency with learning management systems, specifically D2L/Brightspace
+ Background in adult education
+ Ability to collaborate with Academic Chairs and faculty across SAIT
+ Willingness to collaborate with colleagues on the Communication and Liberal Arts Studies team
+ Expertise in a variety of teaching modalities including face-to-face, online, blended
