Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a dynamic Head Nurse/Instructor to lead and support clinical excellence in patient care within our Orthopedics/Arthroplasty unit. As a Head Nurse/ Instructor in this area you will be an expert practitioner and key educator supporting both nursing staff and the multidisciplinary clinical team. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in planning, assessment, coordination and implementation of post operative orthopedic/arthroplasty patient care. This role is central to delivering safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. The successful candidate will perform a variety of nursing duties and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, the patients, and their families to achieve positive patient outcomes and improvements in quality care. Nursing care will be administered safely and effectively, according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. Key Responsibilities include: Lead and facilitate nursing post operative clinical patient care across the orthopedic/arthroplasty unit. Rounding on post operative patients in a care team environment. Support clinical staff through mentorship, coaching, and professional development. Collaborate with leadership to implement quality improvement and change management strategies. Promote evidence-based practice and adult learning principles in all educational activities. Support the clinical care team with assessment and post operative interventions and discharge teaching.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years acute care orthopedics nursing experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a clinical nurse educator/ Instructor in acute care orthopedics. Demonstration of excellent knowledge, assessment, documentation, communication, organizational and patient care skills are essential. A commitment to providing quality patient and family centered care in a team environment must be demonstrated. Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-sedentary environment and meet physical demands (walking, bending, lifting, standing). Proven ability to maintain respectful working relationships and work effectively as a team player. Experience in quality improvement, program development, change management, and complex care planning. Proficiency in Connect Care. Demonstrated mentorship and leadership skills, including capacity-building in others.
