Overview:
The instructor will provide an enriching learning environment for students by using holistic and career-oriented teaching methods. The instructor will ensure students progress effectively by maintaining an organized and structured classroom environment. The administration of assignments, tests, projects, and exams will help students stay engaged and give the instructor an accurate gauge of student success. The instructor will work under the NACIT guidance and supervision of the Department of Academic Affairs.
We seek professionals with post-secondary degrees in child development and previous experience who specialize in working with children with various specialized needs.
Responsibilities:
The PSW clinical supervising instructor will supervise 50 hours (5 hours per day) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
After supervision, the students must go for bi-weekly checkups to check their PSW placement passbooks and placement attendance.
At the end of the placement hours (310), the clinical supervising instructor will come to the campus (Toronto/Scarbrough) and complete the PSW Placement passbook signage.
Implemented and managed college policies and procedures such as attendance, grade reports, midterm reports, student advising forms, and all other assigned educational materials on time.
Complete and submit all grade books promptly and mark all tests, examinations, and assignments.
Experience in Learning Management Systems like Canvas will be an asset.
Education and Experience:
Diploma in Practical Nursing from an accredited college or equivalent.
Current registration as an RN, licensed to practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario without any restrictions.
A minimum of three years of recent, relevant work experience in a clinical setting. Experience in long-term care, community, or chronic care is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
A minimum of three years of PSW teaching experience is desired.
One year of clinical site supervision is highly preferred.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills while conducting lectures, facilitating discussions, and engaging in other classroom activities.
Capable of effectively conveying complex information to students.
Fundamental computer proficiency, including presentation software, Excel and MS applications, and student information systems. Familiarity with electronic charting software is a plus.
Experience using LMSs.
Availability and willingness to commute or travel to clinical facilities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to supervise students during their clinical placements
