Job Overview

Practicum Training Institute, Inc. is a Private Vocational School registered with the Ministry of Advanced Education in Saskatchewan, and has been providing Heavy Equipment Operator training to individuals and contractors for over 20 years. PTI is seeking an experienced individual for an Instructor position, to safely train others in the operation of Excavator (track hoe), Grader, Dozer and Articulated Truck. Additional pieces may include, but not limited to, Loader and Skid Steer. The position to commence March 2026.

Schedule

Full time, 6 days per week (Monday - Saturday), 10 hours per day (7am - 5pm). Each training program is a month long, and will run consecutively from March - December.

Details

1st day of each program will be in-classroom and you will be required to read through the provided orientation manual, and review the operator/maintenance manuals of equipment. The remaining days of the programs, will include a morning safety meeting, pre-operational inspections, in-field equipment operation with instruction focused on basic functions and controls of the equipment, fueling, maintenance/basic servicing including greasing, track cleaning, and oil changes.

Location

Office/main training site is 45kms SW of Saskatoon, SK (10 minutes past Pike Lake Provincial Park). The first few months of training will be held at this location; however, once road bans are off, training may be held at different locations across the province, and last for up to 5 months.

Skills /Requirements

Must be reliable, trustworthy, patient and personable Must be willing to work independently or with others Knowledge of safety standards related to equipment operation and maintenance Must have a valid drivers license Must have the following safety tickets: WHMIS, Ground Disturbance level 2, First Aid/CPR Must be willing to travel and be gone for extended periods of time when doing out of town training

Wages

Hourly (rate TBD) with overtime after 40 hours per week Company truck provided, travel and accommodation expenses for any out of town training
