Your Opportunity:

The Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) in the Neurosciences program leads the planning, co-ordination, implementation and evaluation of nursing staff education to support their clinical competencies in collaboration with the Neurosciences leadership team. This CNE position primary portfolio is the Neurosciences ICU (4A4) and Observation Unit (5G3). Using adult learning principles, the CNE develops, delivers and evaluates activities of orientation of new staff to Critical Care, mandatory education and changes in policies, procedures and protocols as well as other practice support documents to support the continued competencies of nursing staff. The major responsibilities of the CNE are staff education and clinical practice development. The goal of the CNE is to promote excellence in clinical practice and maintain clinical competence in the specialty area. The position reports to the Patient Care Manager of Neurosciences ICU. Key responsibilities are established in consultation with the leadership team of Neurosciences.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: BScN required. A minimum of 5 years current clinical experience in a Critical Care/Neurosciences ICU environment required. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential. Must have excellent organization and planning skills. Strong problem-solving, decision making, leadership skills, and demonstrated collaborative practice required. Preferred Qualifications: Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visio, Teams) preferred. Previous teaching experience an asset.
