Job Overview



We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join Kikkawa College as the primary Instructor for our Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) program. This pivotal role involves teaching, mentoring, and evaluating adult students in a private career college setting, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career as Early Childhood Assistants. The ideal candidate will be a registered Early Childhood Educator with substantial current field experience and a passion for adult education. This position requires a thorough understanding of ministry standards and a commitment to shaping professional, competent graduates.

Responsibilities



Deliver the accredited ECA program curriculum to adult learners, ensuring all learning outcomes are met. Plan, prepare, and implement engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that cater to adult learning principles. Evaluate student progress through assignments, practical assessments, and examinations, providing constructive feedback. Maintain accurate and current student records, grades, and attendance in compliance with college and ministry policies. Mentor and support a diverse student body, fostering a professional and inclusive classroom environment. Collaborate with college administration on curriculum review, program development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Stay current with trends, regulations, and best practices in both Early Childhood Education and adult instruction. Ensure all teaching practices and program delivery meet the standards set by the Ministry governing Private Career Colleges.

Requirements



A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education OR an Early Childhood Educator's Diploma from a registered college. A minimum of five (5) years of current work experience as an Early Childhood Educator. Current membership in good standing with the provincial association for Early Childhood Educators (e.g., College of ECEs). Must meet all instructor qualification standards as set by the Ministry regulating Private Career Colleges in Ontario. Any ECE credential earned outside Canada must be translated into English and accompanied by a formal equivalency assessment (e.g., from World Education Services - WES). Formal training and/or proven experience in teaching adult learners is a strong asset.
