We would support your training to become a licensed Class 5 instructor, the guidance and direction you need to get your small business started, and 15,000+ new and experienced drivers booking driving instruction sessions annually. THE PERKS

• Starting competitive hourly rate of $35.00 (in-vehicle instruction time) with the potential to increase earnings up to an additional $7.00 per hour from bonuses.

WHAT YOU\xe2\x80\x99LL DO AS AN INSTRUCTOR:

• Report to the Senior Instructor (think of AMA almost like a board member or investor in your small business).
• Provide quality vehicle instruction to students, following AMA\xe2\x80\x99s instruction requirements and customer service standards.
• Provide constructive feedback on student drivers\xe2\x80\x99 abilities, helping them develop the confidence and skills necessary to become licensed, safe drivers for life.
• Be responsible for student scheduling and submission of daily paperwork.
• Follow Alberta Transportation guidelines and policies for driving instructors.
• Be available after school, evenings and weekends, to meet students\' scheduling needs.

OUR PROCESS:

Step 1 \xe2\x80\x93 Apply online to register your interest. We encourage you to include a cover letter describing your interest in this career, your passion for any particular aspects of the position, and any relatable experience that will help you hit the ground running! Our Talent Scouts will review and you\xe2\x80\x99ll go through our standard recruitment process.

Step 2 \xe2\x80\x93 Once you are successful going through our recruitment process, AMA will invest in training you with the skills required to be a successful driving instructor with 4 classroom (in-person or virtual) instruction sessions, 20 hours of hands-on training with a Senior Instructor using an AMA vehicle, practice exams, and self-study training materials.

Step 3 - After the completion of training, a consensus between yourself and the team will determine your readiness for the written and practical examination to acquire your Provincial Vehicle Instructor Licence from Alberta Transportation.

Step 4 - Once you have acquired your Licence, we\xe2\x80\x99ll help you get started with setting up your small business. This is when you\xe2\x80\x99ll need to get started with the following:

• You\xe2\x80\x99ll have a vehicle that\xe2\x80\x99s no more than six years old.
• You\xe2\x80\x99ll update your vehicle with the required brakes, mirrors, removable roof signs, and door magnets. The latter two are provided for free by AMA, while the brakes and mirrors cost $456.78 (including tax). Should you decide to end your contract, we\xe2\x80\x99ll buy them back!
• You\xe2\x80\x99ll obtain the required SEF 6D Endorsement insurance coverage for driving instructors. AMA Insurance can provide this for our instructors at an estimated $545.00 per year (subject to a review of your personal insurance and driving history)
• You\xe2\x80\x99ll set up a small business through a registry (incorporation) at an estimated cost of $550.00.

Step 5 \xe2\x80\x93 Training on our internal systems for you to schedule lessons, communicate progress with students and their parents, completion of payroll, and use of training material.

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS:

• You have your Provincial Vehicle Instructor Licence from Alberta Transportation. (Don\xe2\x80\x99t worry, training will be provided to suitable candidates that don\xe2\x80\x99t have this certification.)
• You have a clean driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract.
• A vehicle no more than six years old.
• Required start up costs after the completion of training and acquiring your instructor licence (vehicle add-ons, SEF 6D Endorsement insurance, and incorporating).
