Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join the Access 24/7 team within the Edmonton Zone Addiction & Mental Health portfolio. Reporting to the Care Manager, the Clinical Educator (CE) is responsible for providing and facilitating education, based on adult education principles, for staff within Access 24/7 to ensure that clinical competencies and organizational standards/practices are maintained. The CE will work collaboratively with management, the Clinical Supervisor, and other resources and/or supports from other departments, sites and programs. The CE functions as a leader, innovator, and change agent in the pursuit of excellence in client care. The CE is accountable for their own practice and will be guided by their education, experience, Alberta Health Services policies and procedures, in accordance with AHS Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care, and the standards of practice of CRPNA/CARNA Code of Ethics and Professional Practice Standards. You will be responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and supporting the implementation of educational initiatives for orientation, and mandatory and continuing education of the multidisciplinary team.

Description:

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of five years of experience working across the continuum of addiction and mental health services. Excellent assessment skills with demonstrated knowledge of key components of a comprehensive addiction and mental health assessment. Knowledge of risk assessment and management, including knowledge of trauma informed care. Demonstrated ability to manage co-morbid medical disorders and knowledge of the principles of chronic disease management and recovery are required. Thorough understanding of the application of the Mental Health Act. Knowledge of AHS Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care Edmonton Zone and related program policy, procedures and guidelines. Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills as well as excellence in written and verbal communication, and group facilitation skills. Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, critical thinking and initiative is essential. Ability to prioritize and meet competing demands/requirements. Preferred Qualifications:
