The instructor for this position will be responsible for teaching the following courses:

PAVE

220 - Pavement 220,

Third Semester - Civil Construction:An entry-level course covering pavement theory.

SOIL

120 - Soils 120,

Second Semester - Civil:An introductory course in soils, including both theory and lab components.

Job Duties

Job Duties

1. Qualified applicants will be required to teach in the civil engineering program specialty areas of asphalt pavements (PAVE 220) and soils (SOIL 120) based on current program needs; ability to teach in other program areas is an asset.

2. Customize and adapt curriculum and delivery methods to meet client and industry needs.

3. Manage face-to-face class and laboratory assignments to ensure an optimal learning environment for students.

4. Be reflective of and responsive to accommodation of special learning needs, including equity groups and diverse learners.

5. Plan and deliver content and learning activities that reflect the values, beliefs, needs, and contributions of a culturally diverse community.

6. Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment, and feedback to students following all Sask Polytech policy, procedures, and best practices.

7. Select, design, update and construct educational courses and lab aids/materials.

8. Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent "team" environment, including the Co-operative Education Department, and participate in staff, program, and division meetings.

9. Pursue professional development opportunities and electronic industry relationships to keep current with industry and educational requirements.

10. Where required, develop working relationships with appropriate external partners and employers.

11. Counsel students and prospective students on matters pertaining to the program and job opportunities.

12. Follow all academic regulations and/or policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and/or individual campus.

13. Practice good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

14. Assist in arranging equipment maintenance within the program, and support inventory management, including ordering supplies, equipment, and learning materials.
15. Travel may be required.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

1. Engineering technology diploma or engineering degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

2. Two years recent/relevant experience (two years' in the last 5) in the civil engineering field.

3. Member of or eligible for registration with TPS (Technology Professionals Saskatchewan) as a P. Tech or with APEGS (Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Saskatchewan) as a P.Eng.

4. Effective instructional ability.

5. Effective interpersonal skills.

6. Effective communication skills.

7. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, email, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.

8. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.

9. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
