Job Description

In the key role of Instructional Designer/Training Specialist, we rely on you to manage the development of new and existing training products as well as conduct client training for new and experienced users of Advanced Utility Systems Corporation software. You will interact directly with our clients in live training sessions to ensure a smooth transfer of knowledge. You will be required to conduct web training sessions and train internal staff.

Conventional hours for this role are 9am to 5pm with occasional Sunday travel and extended hours; must be able to travel extensively throughout North America. While the rule is to be home every weekend, this position will only appeal to professionals who are comfortable with frequent travel (65-75%).

What your impact will be:

  • Assist in the maintenance of learning management system (LMS) curricula and role assignments in all LMS system(s), ensuring that employee lists and course content is current and accurate.
  • Contribute to the development of training content using established instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE) in a variety of formats (instructor-led, e-learning, blended learning) which supports the overall AUS training strategy.
  • Collaborates and provides consultation with business partners and subject matter experts to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate training solutions.
  • Ensure all training materials are clear, concise, consistent, and instructionally sound.
  • Assist in developing measurement and evaluation tools to test the effectiveness of the training developed.
  • Review internal communication of product enhancements to determine appropriate delivery or training method
  • Deliver training for new users of Advanced software throughout all phases of implementation.
  • Deliver upgrade training for existing clients and internal staff members.
  • Facilitate client testing and validation of converted data, business processes and software modifications.
  • Following corporate protocols, address client feedback and training questions received through training sessions or through other communication channels.
  • Provide support to Sales and Marketing, on an occasional basis, through attending demonstration meetings with potential clients.
  • Complete special projects, as assigned.
What we are looking for:
  • Superior oral, written and presentation skills are required
  • 3 + years of experience developing and delivering training material in an adult classroom setting
  • High level of problem solving and deductive skills
  • Instructional design experience, including curriculum development, creation of course materials and formulation of exercises for both instructor-led and eLearning approaches
  • Attention to detail, ability to proof-read and edit other's work.
  • Must be able to travel extensively throughout North America 65-75%
What will make you stand out:
  • Previous experience within the software or utility sector preferred but not mandatory
  • Post-secondary education in Adult Education is an asset
  • Understanding of how an LMS functions in an organization and experience working with LMS administrators to upload and deploy courses.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is advantageous
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cloud solutions and concepts
