Position Summary


This position is responsible for assisting the Department Head and classroom instructors by performing a wide variety of duties including instructional support, preparing and setting up shop projects, providing guidance to students, and coordinating facility tours and events.


Duties & Responsibilities


Builds, move, maintain, service and repair training aides, stands, or other devices to assist in training delivery.

Supervises shop activities in the absence of the instructor.

Invigilates theory and practical exams, quizzes and assessments.

Maintains and ensure an adequate supply of shop consumable and supplies and equipment and tools.

Coordinates facility tours and events, organizes and maintains materials and equipment for internal and external promotional events.

Acts as a liaison with external organizations such as the Apprenticeship Board, Skills Canada and with industry contacts.

Ensures all tools and equipment are inventoried via electronic inventory control system.

Performs other related duties as required.




Qualifications


Education and Experience



Automotive Service Technician:


Grade 12 plus Red Seal Certification in Automotive Services and including over 2 years' related experience in mechanical repair or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.

Automotive Collision Technician:

Grade 12 plus Red Seal Certification in Automotive Collision or Automotive Refinishing and including over 2 years' related experience in mechanical repair or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.


Skills and Abilities

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and faculty. Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, safety, methods, tools and equipment relative to the particular trade. Computer experience with proficiency in MS Word and Excel and inventory management systems. Good oral and written communication skills with business English. Ability to supervise students and student aides. Good organizational and time management skills.


Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE


PAYGRADE 23 - $31.67 to $37.06 hourly rate ($2,217 to $2,594 bi-weekly)
