We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on problem solver to work in an installation Technician role as part of our growing team. Our ideal candidate will be accustomed to working in a customer facing role and has experience with routine international travel. They will be able to prioritize multiple concurrent projects and be passionate about doing so in a clean and organized manner. The cleanliness and organization of our job is paramount to the quality of our products. While it will continue to be a team effort, our ideal candidate can solve problems while working remotely taking ownership of their work. This role is integral to our success as we commercialize our core product. The ideal person for this role is enthusiastic to step into this position and grow with us.

What Will You Do

Working closely with our Installation Lead, you will have the opportunity to install some of the most advanced scientific equipment in the world at various locations globally including Europe, USA, Japan, India, and South Korea to name a few. We expect you to ask questions, learn, be open to growth, and attend technical training as required. Some of your core duties will include:

Travel globally to install cryogenic systems. Introduce and teach new and existing clientele how to use their specific Zero Point Cryogenics refrigerators. Gain an understanding of how to build cryostats so that you can repair them in the field. Understand warranty repair guidelines to deliver the best service possible to our existing and future clientele. Recommend scheduled maintenance service items to our clientele, as needed, throughout the life-cycle of their fridge. Perform scheduled maintenance service items at our clientele's facilities. Neatly route, label, and terminate wires between connectors and terminals. Perform wiring repairs (including soldering) on 14-36 gauge wires, electrical connectors, and low temperature coax cables. Take measurements using a multimeter, tape measure, caliper, helium leak checker, and digital thermometers. Use Odoo, HubSpot, and Google workspace to complete administrative tasks. Install, test, and troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and process equipment. Use hand and power tools to assemble cryostats while on installation visits. Be comfortable using hand and power tools to process/fabricate metal components. Read manufacturer's manuals, drawings, and quality control specifications for assembly procedures. Other related duties as assigned by your supervisor. Duties may change during your term of employment as needed by your supervisor.

Preferred Experience

Electrician Trade Certification, Heavy Equipment (3rd/4th year completed) Journeyperson, or Instrumentation Journeyperson would be considered an asset. Engineering Technology diploma, Physics degree, or Engineering degree would be considered an asset. Customer service experience within an advisor role would be preferred. Direct, in-depth experience operating or installing low temperature physics experiments or equipment would be considered an asset. Experience sourcing technical materials for electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation, or other applications. Vacuum and/or refrigeration experience. Electrical/mechanical shop or similar manufacturing experience would be preferred. Excellent time-management and task-prioritization. Documentation skills to create internal and external documentation relating to your work. Experience with multimeters and other testing equipment used in the startup and commissioning process. Intermediate or greater experience using Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Office and Google workspace. Ability to perform daily planning and organizational practices while working with a high-degree of independence and integrating cohesively within the team. Ability to think critically, think analytically, multitask, prioritize duties, and quickly assume new tasks as required.

Familiarity with various types of fasteners, wiring, materials, and chemicals. Ability to take accurate dimensional measurements using a variety of measuring tools. Excellent work history and solid references. Ability to lift 30 kg, work overhead and work in confined spaces inside the control cabinet. A valid driver's license. A valid passport (or the ability to get one) and the ability to pass security clearance checks for installing Cryostats and other scientific equipment in our client's facilities. The ability to immediately and frequently travel internationally is required. Dual citizenship (holding both a Canadian passport and the passport for the USA, any EU country, or Japan, for example) would be considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary of $70,000 - $80,000 CAD / Year Daily living out allowance (LOA) during travel. 100% employer paid group benefits including health and dental, $750/annum Health Care Spending Account, EFAP (Employee Family Assistance Program), Flexible Paid Time Off policy, and paid statutory holidays.
