About this Position We are looking for an Inside Sales Representative that enjoys problem solving to satisfy customer needs and to improve internal sales processes. This person will utilize a mix of their selling and technical expertise, along with knowledge of AIL products to provide a strong working relationship with our customers. This will include providing solutions, taking product orders, assisting customers with their selections, troubleshooting customer issues, answering customer inquiries, prospecting for new opportunities, supporting our sales team and ensuring satisfaction of existing customers. This position will report to the Northern British Colombia/ Yukon Sales Manager and located in the Armstrong, British Colombia office. Responsibilities:

  • Respond in a timely and professional manner to customer inquiries, including taking orders, providing information and solutions, and referring to others as required.
  • Responsible for sales support activities including on-line bid searches; assisting and executing sales strategies; generating sales leads; maintaining accurate sales and CRM records; and contributing to annual sales goals.
  • Responsible for project coordinator support activities including booking transportation, negotiating pricing, and coordinating deliveries with freight carriers.
  • Help in identifying sales opportunities by prospecting, acting on leads with support from Sales Manager. Monitor existing client base for expansion, growth or potential moves.
  • Assist in negotiation of agreements, change orders and contracts with customers.
  • Direct selling on small scale public tenders and private negotiated projects.
  • Participate and coordinate company risk and opportunity evaluations with Sales Manager.
  • Communicate with our manufacturing teams to ensure client product and orders are on schedule.
  • Conduct thorough review of project tender documents and specifications as required.
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on budget estimates for customers, owners, and consultants.
  • Occasional travel to site walks and pre-tender meetings
  • A commitment to continuous learning of AIL products and their differentiated selling features.
  • Identify, recommend and refer any opportunities, which arise from client queries to other Departments or Regions as necessary.
  • Ascertain trends and repetitive occurrences to enable permanent resolution of issues that could be rectified by process enhancement.
  • Assist the Sales Manager and Technical Sales Team as required.
  • Responsible for providing feedback on key customer information to Sales, Marketing, and Production.

  • Fluent use of Microsoft office (Excel, word, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset
  • Knowledge of ERP system is an asset
  • Strong understanding of Sales and Marketing.
  • Civil Engineering Technology or Business Management is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Civil Construction Products sales is an asset.
