Information Technology (IT) Manager
Location: Vancouver, BC
Salary: $110,000 - $120,000
Type: Permanent, Full-Time (In-Office)
Our client, a well-established and growing multi-service law firm based in downtown Vancouver, is seeking an experienced Information Technology (IT) Manager to lead the firm's IT operations and infrastructure.
Reporting to senior leadership, this role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of IT strategy, systems, security, and operations while managing internal resources and external vendors. This is a senior-level role suited to a proactive IT leader who thrives in a professional services environment and enjoys balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem solving.
The Role
This position oversees the firm's full IT function, ensuring systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with business needs. The IT Manager acts as both a strategic advisor and an operational leader, supporting lawyers and staff across the firm.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the firm's IT infrastructure, systems, and operations
  • Align technology strategy with business objectives and operational needs
  • Monitor performance of networks, servers, systems, and applications
  • Plan, implement, and review changes to IT technologies and infrastructure
  • Manage network infrastructure including servers, storage, firewalls, switches, and routers
  • Oversee document management systems, file security, and data transfers
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and troubleshooting
  • Develop and maintain data backup systems and disaster recovery plans
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and security requirements
  • Design, implement, and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Manage vendor relationships and service providers
  • Prepare and manage annual and project-based IT budgets
  • Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff, including recruitment and training
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to leadership on emerging technologies
  • Manage IT risk profiles and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Adhere to ITIL and industry best practices, including incident, change, and release management
The Ideal Candidate Brings
  • Broad infrastructure and IT operations expertise, including servers, security, networking, backups, and helpdesk operations
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Entra, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration
  • Hands-on knowledge of data centre infrastructure (e.g. Dell EMC, VMware, iSCSI networking)
  • Solid understanding of networking technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, ZTNA, and managed detection and response solutions
  • Experience with business continuity and backup solutions (e.g. Veeam or similar)
  • Proven experience leading IT teams and delivering IT solutions in a professional services environment
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work across all levels of an organization
Qualifications & Experience
  • University degree or equivalent in Information Technology or a related field
  • Relevant IT certifications are considered an asset
  • Approximately 10 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or management role
  • Experience designing and implementing infrastructure technology initiatives
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
  • Exposure to VOIP systems is an asset
  • Experience with iManage, Elite, or similar legal systems is an asset
