About Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services:
Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services is a newly established organization dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of Saugeen First Nation children and families and build capacity to operationalize Saugeen's child wellbeing law, Zaag'idiwin. Saugeen children and families are at the core of who we are - they are our most valuable resources. We believe it is our collective responsibility as Saugeen to care for one another.
Position Summary:
The IT/IM Director provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of Information Technology (IT) and Information Management (IM). This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring technology is effectively integrated into all operations, aligns with strategic goals, and supports the organization's mission. The Director ensures high-performing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, staff development, and efficient resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning
Provide strategic leadership in the planning, development, and execution of the IT and IM departmental roadmap in alignment with organizational goals, compliance requirements, and evolving community service needs.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and the senior management team to assess strategic priorities and position IT/IM as a core enabler of innovation and service transformation.
Lead cross-functional initiatives that modernize the organization's use of technology, data, and digital workflows while championing user-centric design principles and Indigenous knowledge systems.
Translate strategic business needs into comprehensive technology strategies that drive operational improvements, digital equity, and measurable outcomes.
Monitor the execution of the IT/IM strategic plan, evaluate outcomes against performance benchmarks, and proactively address emerging risks and opportunities.
Infrastructure & Systems Management
Oversee the design, procurement, configuration, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of a high-availability IT infrastructure including LAN/WAN networks, wireless systems, cloud environments, virtual machines, and on-premises servers.
Lead the organization-wide implementation and integration of enterprise applications including case management systems, finance and HR platforms, ERP, CRM, and internal collaboration tools.
Ensure all systems and hardware are optimized for functionality, performance, security, and compliance, through lifecycle management, asset tracking, and technical support infrastructure.
Supervise the IT support team to ensure a timely and effective response to internal service requests, minimizing downtime and maintaining a culture of technical excellence.
Provide expert oversight of licensing, software updates, patch management, performance analytics, and vendor management in line with best practices.
Cybersecurity & Data Protection
Establish and maintain comprehensive organizational cybersecurity frameworks, policies, and incident response plans that meet legal, operational, and ethical standards.
Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify, assess, and remediate risks associated with internal and external threats.
Ensure compliance with national and provincial privacy legislation, including PHIPA, FIPPA, and data sovereignty protocols specific to Indigenous communities.
Implement and monitor intrusion detection systems, firewalls, endpoint protection, access control lists, and encrypted data storage practices.
Develop staff training protocols and conduct ongoing awareness initiatives to promote a security-conscious organizational culture and reduce user-related risks.
Information Management & Data Governance
Lead the design and implementation of orgainization-wide information and records management systems, ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and preservation of critical data.
Establish formal data governance structures, taxonomies, metadata standards, and retention/disposition schedules to support lifecycle data stewardship.
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and cultural protocols in all matters of document management, information access, and digital file storage, respecting Indigenous principles of data ownership and control.
Develop centralized knowledge repositories and controlled vocabularies to support staff in accessing accurate, current, and authoritative organizational data.
Departmental & People Leadership
Provide direct supervision to all IT/IM personnel.
Foster a high-performing team culture through coaching, mentoring, training, and leadership that aligns with Zaag'idiwin's values and service model.
Lead and manage departmental work plans, staff evaluations, professional development planning, and performance improvement processes.
Promote a respectful, safe, and inclusive workplace by ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards and human resources policies.
Collaborate with the HR department to recruit, onboard, train, and retain top IT and IM talent with a focus on Indigenous employment and mentorship opportunities.
Financial Oversight & Compliance
Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources and alignment with organizational priorities and funding obligations.
Oversee contract negotiations, vendor performance assessments, and service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure cost-effective and reliable service delivery.
Liaise with the finance department to ensure accurate forecasting, financial reporting, and adherence to procurement and audit guidelines.
Establish internal controls and audit readiness protocols related to data, systems, and expenditures.
Ensure all departmental activities meet compliance obligations under relevant legislation, sector standards, and funding agreements.
Other related duties as assigned to support the operational success and digital transformation of Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services.
Working Conditions:
Occasional travel to community sites may be required.
May be required to work outside regular business hours to respond to emergencies or system outages.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (master's degree an asset).
Minimum 7 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 3 in a director or Senior Management role.
Proven experience in digital transformation, systems integration, and cybersecurity.
Familiarity with Indigenous organizations, values, and community-driven services is a strong asset.
Experience working with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), and enterprise software solutions.
Ability to build respectful, trust-based relationships across teams and cultures.
Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities
Must have a valid Class 'G' driver's license with $2M liability insurance with reliable method of transportation
Current Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search required (if offered position)
Current First Aid/CPR with AED certification and updated as required
