About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Manager of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), the Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) works with physicians and clinical staff in all health sectors to prevent the transmission of Health Care Associated Infections (HAI). They collaborate with patient/clients/residents, families and staff to develop consistent evidenced based IPAC solutions. IPAC works to provide consistent, equitable access to IPAC best practice policies, guidance, standards, education programs and consultative services across all sectors. IPAC provides leadership within Nova Scotia Health's IPAC program to achieve the best outcomes in health care program and service delivery, safe care and continuous improvement. Duties include, but are not limited to, surveillance activities, pandemic/outbreak management, acting as a resource/providing consultation to patients/clients/residents and stakeholders, providing education and training to staff, physicians and volunteers; keeping current with IPAC literature, standards and guidelines, participating in research activities, product evaluation, construction and design, infrastructure guidance, performing process audits, and applying continuous quality improvement principles.
