Job Description

STC Industrial Contracting is looking for an experienced Industrial Project Manager / Estimator to help improve overall company operations of a diverse business that specializes in structural steel, piping and miscellaneous steel construction and maintenance within the mining and utility sectors in Saskatchewan.The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude with a strong work ethic, be able to take charge and lead the review and preparation of proposals, and work with the projects team to better enhance project delivery to our clients. Must be committed to making and achieving project goals and be willing to work as many hours as it takes. Must be flexible with last minute or emergency client requests by meeting tight deadlines.This is a management position based in an office setting, with the requirement for site and client visits as necessary. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all phases of a project from initial inquiry to project closeout and warranty. This individual will maintain a culture of zero harm and safety awareness, foster an engaged workforce and drive on-time delivery as just a few of their responsibilities.Core Competencies

Job Duties
  • Attend bid meetings and develop and execute bid strategy;
  • Review technical Specifications and Drawings for pricing and scope review;
  • Prepare estimates of materials, labour, sub-contractor costs, etc. for job bids;
  • Maintain and complete tender processes, including administrative tasks;
  • Continuously update unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts;
  • Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing, and project costs, for future reference.
  • Work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations while delegating to a team;
  • Liaise with existing clients as well as new owners, consultants, engineers and architects;
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Act as a safety leader by implementing and ensuring compliance with STCI's OH&S programs, including all COVID-19 protocols, in accordance with company policies and provincial standards.
  • Hold coordination meetings and assess job priorities.
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager; plan, coordinate, and assign work to site crews and ensure equipment & materials are available to complete the required work.
  • Monitor work projects to ensure the safe and timely execution of all activities.
  • Excellent leadership skills - must be able to motivate others and provide complete, direct and actionable feedback
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years estimating experience, or related field experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing construction and maintenance projects in an industrial setting.
  • Construction Project Management Experience
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required
  • Strong leadership and team building abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (specifically Excel and Word)
  • Safety conscious, team-oriented, hardworking, and reliable.
Education
  • Journeyperson Certification in the Trades or B.Sc. in Engineering in related field is preferred
