Job Summary:
Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) is responsible for the maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and mechanical systems that support Decora's powder coating and material handling operations. This role plays a vital part in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining optimal performance across our automated coating lines, curing ovens, and production systems.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs safely, efficiently, and independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery and mechanical equipment including conveyors, fans, pumps, ovens, and coating systems.
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine mechanical layouts and repair procedures.
Inspect and maintain mechanical systems, identifying potential issues and ensuring reliable operation of production equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
Operate and maintain machine tools such as grinders, lathes, and welding equipment for fabrication or modification of parts.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality control teams to ensure equipment functionality and process improvements.
Follow all workplace safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and report any hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment uptime and reduce maintenance costs.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of secondary school and a recognized millwright apprenticeship program, or a combination of five (5) or more years of related work experience and mechanical training.
Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433A trade certificationpreferred; Red Seal endorsement considered an asset.
Demonstrated experience maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial equipment in a manufacturing or coating facility.
Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and mechanical drive systems.
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, and fabrication equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics and technical drawings.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining safety and productivity standards.
Hours:
Full-time position with occasional overtime, depending on project deadlines and production needs. Some weekend or shift work may be required.
