MASTERFUL TEC is a registered apprenticeship program that was developed by ZF LIFETEC, in Midland, ON. This exclusive and structured one-of-a-kind training program is geared towards apprentices who have completed their first block of schooling, and provides apprentices with job training, as well as specific classroom training - which builds the skills they will require to successfully perform within our auto manufacturing facilities.

We are currently looking for

2nd and/or 3rd Year Industrial Mechanic Millwright Apprentice to join our ever-expanding skilled trades team in Midland, ON.

As an Industrial Mechanic Millwright Apprentice, what you can expect from our new and unique program are monthly reviews and skill challenges for each apprentice; monthly logbook inspection and testing; specialized training such as AB Rockwell software for PCL basics and troubleshooting; VFD and hydraulics trouble shooting; solid works training and 3D development; Robotic maintenance and AI laser measurement tools - just to name a few.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools. Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery. Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions. Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls. Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts. Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery. Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery. Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment. Follow Company Environmental Health & Safety policies and PPE requirements. Maintain good housekeeping and be familiar with, as well as follow, all safe operating procedures. Working a rotating shift and complete overtime - as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have completed, or be in the process of completing, level 2 of their apprenticeship program (433A). Must have over 2,250 working hours within the trade. Experience working within a team, and with other tradespeople. Able to start their own minor repairs with supervision - if necessary. Physically able to perform the heavy tasks that are required of a Millwright. Mechanically inclined.

BENEFITS:

Full union membership after 45 working days. Eligible for company paid health, dental and travel benefits after 3-months. Company provided uniforms. Access to specialized in-house training. Training from dedicated trainers and mentors. Full wages provided while apprentice attends school. Reimbursement of tuition and a portion of required books - after proof of completion and passing grade. Will receive 5 extra statutory holidays during the Christmas to New Year's break - in accordance with the Union CBA. Eligible for tool allowance at upon entering the apprenticeship program. Shift premiums of 5% while working on afternoon shift and 7% while on night shift. Overtime paid out for hours worked above 40-hours within a weekly period.
