Overview



Commercial Truck Equipment, part of the Commercial Group of Companies, is expanding its Calgary Service Department and is seeking a motivated

2nd or 3rd Year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice

to join our growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity to continue your apprenticeship with one of Canada's most established and diversified truck equipment suppliers. You'll work alongside experienced technicians on specialized vehicles and equipment -- everything from heavy trucks and cranes to fire apparatus, digger derricks, snowplows, and utility units.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the ideal candidate will be reliable, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn. You'll gain hands-on experience in hydraulics, electrical systems, powertrains, and upfitting while working in a busy, safety-driven environment.

Responsibilities



Assist journeyperson technicians with mechanical repairs, installations, and troubleshooting Learn and perform diagnostics on engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics Help with the installation and service of truck-mounted equipment (cranes, dump bodies, plows, digger derricks, etc.) Support testing and inspection processes including CVIP preparation and preventative maintenance Maintain a clean and safe work environment Accurately complete work orders and timesheets Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training

Education, Skills, and Qualifications



Registered 2nd or 3rd Year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice (or equivalent Heavy-Duty Technician stream) Valid Class 5 driver's license with air brake endorsement (Class 3 an asset) Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Safety-minded, dependable, and punctual Able to work both independently and as part of a team Basic computer skills (Office 365, digital work order systems) Able to occasionally travel for training or customer support
