Position Summary



The Industrial Hygiene Technician supports the development and implementation of occupational health programs by conducting field monitoring, data collection, and hazard assessments. This role ensures workplace conditions comply with occupational health and safety standards, focusing on chemical, physical, and biological hazards. The technician will work closely with industrial hygienists, safety professionals, and operations teams to protect employee health and maintain regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities



Conduct workplace sampling and monitoring for chemical, physical, and biological hazards (e.g., noise, dust, gases, vapors, temperature, radiation, and ergonomics). Calibrate, operate, and maintain industrial hygiene monitoring equipment (e.g., noise dosimeters, air sampling pumps, gas detectors). Collect air, surface, and bulk samples for laboratory analysis and maintain proper chain-of-custody. Assist in evaluating exposure data against occupational exposure limits (OELs), including ACGIH TLVs, OSHA PELs, and local regulatory standards. Support hazard recognition surveys, inspections, and exposure assessments in various workplace settings. Document and maintain accurate field notes, logs, and technical reports. Participate in incident investigations involving occupational exposures. Support training, awareness programs, and employee engagement initiatives. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and corporate health & safety policies. Provide recommendations for engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications



Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related discipline ir recent science graduate. 1-3 years of experience in industrial hygiene, occupational health, or environmental monitoring (entry-level candidates may be considered with strong academic background). Knowledge of occupational hygiene principles, sampling methodologies, and relevant standards (ACGIH, OSHA, NIOSH, CSA, AIHA). Proficiency with industrial hygiene monitoring instruments and calibration procedures. Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse environments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field sites. [Optional: Certification such as Occupational Hygiene Technician (ROHT), NIOSH 582, or related training is considered an asset.]

Working Conditions



Fieldwork in industrial, construction, or laboratory settings. Potential exposure to hazardous materials; use of PPE required. Some evening/weekend work and travel may be required. Own car required

Pay: $25.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 40 per week
