About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Project Services & Performance Improvement and as part of the Quality and System Performance portfolio the Industrial Engineer has primary responsibility to the Nova Scotia Health Authority, to support the mission, vision and strategic directions by researching, designing, developing and evaluating effective and efficient solutions to process and system design challenges involving patients, physicians, staff, equipment, technology and organizational structure that require analysis and service/process/system re-design. Expertise in the performance improvement methodologies, project management and change management techniques applied to solving complex problems is at the core of the Industrial Engineers' role.

The Industrial Engineer works in collaboration and partnership with NSH care and service teams, staff, and leadership in the development, management, execution and evaluation of NSH strategic initiatives as well as process improvement initiatives to achieve the best outcomes in health care program and service delivery, safe care and continuous improvement to meet or exceed all accreditation requirements.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Engineering from a recognized University
  • Appropriate licensure/membership in professional organizations
  • Master's level preparation in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or a related program an asset
  • Certified Health Executive is an asset
  • Minimum three years experience in Industrial Engineering.
  • Demonstrates a high level of Industrial Engineering technical skills
  • Demonstrates a high level of decision making and problem solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management, program planning, and strategic planning
  • Knowledge of health care delivery systems in various hospital and community settings
  • Demonstrates excellent word processing, spreadsheet, relational database, visual management software, project management software and simulation modelling software skills
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills
  • Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice by complying with the Professional Engineers Cannon Act, Engineering Profession Act, Professional Engineering By-Laws, and NSHA standards
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

Hours

Long assignment, full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly
Beginning as soon as possible with an expected end date of Dec 31, 2024 (Approximately 24 months)

Compensation and Incentives

$40.27 - $50.34 Hourly
