We are looking for a Industrial Electronics Specialist (Technical Officer) to support our Aluminium forming team in Automotive and Surface Transportation (AST) Research Center in Saguenay. The candidate would be someone who shares our core values of integrity, excellence, respect and creativity.

The Industrial Electronics Specialist provides specialized technical expertise for various research and development projects with industry partners aimed at developing knowledge, tools and models related to a wide range of aluminum forming processes. The incumbent provides specialized technical services for integrating digital systems, developing and designing new techniques and experimental approaches and carrying out complex, high-value experiments independently. The incumbent is also responsible for conducting and validating experiments, processing and preliminary interpretation of experimental results for technical reports or scientific publications; providing technical advice on control and data acquisition systems; training other users; communicating results to colleagues and industry partners, and related discussions.

The specialist will also be responsible for the maintenance, security and usage schedules for the complex laboratory equipment.

Education

College diploma in a discipline related to industrial electronics and/or instrumentation and/or industrial controls.

Candidates with an attestation of college studies in the desired discipline combined with extensive relevant experience may be considered.

Experience
  • Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, calibration, servoing, maintenance and modification of complex industrial-grade equipment comprising digital, electrical and mechanical systems involving robots, hydraulic machines and measurement and data acquisition devices.
  • Extensive experience in installing, programming and commissioning PLCs and controllers.
  • Extensive experience in the design, programming and servoing of closed-loop control systems with proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers.
  • Experience in carrying out activities including planning, operation and regular maintenance of equipment and materials, as well as training and supervision of equipment users.

Must be able to climb ladders and platforms up to 3 meters.

Technical Competencies
  • Significant knowledge of operating complex equipment involving communication and feedback between them (e.g., robots, hydraulic machines, measurement systems and PLCs, SCADA, Industry 4.0).
  • Significant knowledge of specialized techniques, use of specialized equipment, maintenance and repair techniques, etc.
  • Significant knowledge of the design, execution and analysis of experiments or projects specific to the field.
  • Ability to prepare operating procedures and provide equipment-specific training.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems would be an asset.

Compensation

From $73,744 to $94,839 per annum.
