We have a proud history of mining in Manitoba, dating back to 1956 when we discovered the Thompson Nickel belt. Our operations in Thompson, with two operating mines, is located in the awe-inspiring heart of the northern boreal region. It has a strong future in mining and milling, with an ongoing mission to grow as a safe, prosperous and sustainable nickel producer.

Our Team:

The Industrial Electrician is integral for employee safety and Vale\xe2\x80\x99s long term operating strategy. Members of this team will work at one of the Manitoba Division Plants or Mines to ensure all equipment is operating and contributing effectively to the production profile. Team members are also involved in the development of long-term and short-term maintenance initiatives, practices and procedures.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Industrial Electricians to join our Maintenance Department in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position.

As an Industrial Electrician, you will be responsible for installing and dismantling of electronic equipment to inspecting and maintaining of electronic equipment. Your experience and skills will contribute to scheduled or emergency repairs, installation, inspection, and preventative maintenance work. Additionally, in this position, you will:

• Install, dismantle, construct, calibrate, inspect, maintain, adjust, modify, repair and test plant and mine electrical and electronic equipment and circuits, power distribution protection and communications systems.
• Knowledge of Manitoba Electrical Safety Code, Occupational Health and Safety act, and all other applicable legislation
• Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.
• Report deviations to established procedures.
• Respond to emergency situations as required.
• Follow established Company Health, Safety, and Environment policies and procedures.

About You

Education:

• The ideal candidate will have an Inter-Provincial Red Seal (Certificate of Qualification) as an Industrial Electrician

Experience:

• Minimum of 4 years of industrial experience is preferred.

Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
• Ability to analyze electrical prints and equipment manuals to safely troubleshoot electrical circuits, system controls and protection devices.
• Troubleshooting PLC\xe2\x80\x99s, high voltage cable splicing, and the set-up of various electrical devices
