Position: Indoor Arena SupervisorDivision: Community ServicesDepartment: Recreation and Community DevelopmentTerm: 1 Temp Full Time position available for approximately 24 months.Closing Date: 07/11/2024Labour Group: CUPE 59Posting: 3415Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Recreation Services Manager, this position performs supervisory work involving the efficient operation of recreation facilities including, administrative, ice making, custodial, equipment operation and customer service functions.Duties & Responsibilities1. Responds to requests from staff, user groups and the public in the facilities to ensure that program needs are being met.
2. Supervises, directs, schedules, trains and assists in performance management of staff involved in the daily operation of recreational facilities.
3. Trains and supports staff in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of arena and facility equipment and use of materials required for the duties.
4. Performs a variety of administrative duties related to such matters as customer service, ordering supplies, and scheduling staff.
5. Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees and the general public in accordance with the Saskatchewan Employment Act, Saskatchewan Health regulations and standards, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and the City of Saskatoon\'s administrative Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures. Maintains and monitors programs which affect public health and safety.
6. Operates and maintains a variety of ice making and program equipment and assists with servicing equipment used in facility.
7. Reports required maintenance and repairs to the premises and fixtures.
8. Ensures that facility allocation procedures are followed.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience Requirements:
\xe2\xa6\x81 Grade 12 education.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Three years of operational experience including three years of progressive responsible supervisory experience in facility operations.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Possession of valid Refrigeration Operator Certificate.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver\'s Licence.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Current driver\'s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Possession of a valid recognized first aid and CPR certificate.Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
\xe2\xa6\x81 Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment used in facility maintenance.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Ability to supervise assigned staff.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
\xe2\xa6\x81 Ability to work with minimal supervision.
