Indigenous Relations Intern

Role Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Relations of Teck's North America Business Unit, the Indigenous Relations Intern supports the implementation of Indigenous Relations Strategic Priorities for all mine sites and projects across North America. The Indigenous Relations Intern will support Teck Resources' commitment to Reconciliation, and work with internal and external partners to advance various programs, projects, and initiatives. These include developing Teck's Reconciliation Action Plan, implementing the North America Indigenous employment strategy, supporting the Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training (ICAT) program, and planning and delivering Indigenous Days of Recognition initiatives.
Teck is partnering with the Indigenous Intern Leadership program to deliver this internship. Applicants must self-identify as Indigenous, including First Nations, Metis, or Inuit, to qualify, and must be a resident of B.C. We are striving to build a team that has personal experience with the language, culture, history and customs of Indigenous Peoples.
Key Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader to ensure that all workers, including contractors, go home safe and healthy every day. Adhere to and sponsor safety and sustainability policies and procedures.
• Support the development of a Reconciliation Action Plan.
• Support the implementation of the North America Indigenous employment strategy, including developing and delivering employment initiatives, such as career fairs and trades training programs.
• Support the design and delivery of an annual Indigenous event and days of recognition strategy.
• Coordinate activities for the acknowledgement of Indigenous Recognition Days (Moose Hide Campaign Day, Red Dress Day, National Indigenous History Month, National Indigenous Peoples Day, International Day of World's Indigenous Peoples, and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation).
• Support the delivery of Teck's Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training program.
• Support the delivery of the Indigenous Community Investment program, including evaluating requests, coordinating event participation and assisting with program administration.
• Support the collection and reporting of Indigenous-related data using Teck platforms.
• Conduct research on industry and global developments in Indigenous Relations as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduated or graduating by April 2026 from a recognized post-secondary program in B.C. (trades, technical, diploma, or degree).
• Post-secondary studies in Indigenous studies, social sciences, international development, sustainability, business/economic development, public policy, or a related discipline are especially well-aligned with this role.
• Self-identify as Indigenous.
• Be a resident of British Columbia.
• Hold a valid Social Insurance Number and be eligible to work for a period of two years.
• Experience working directly or indirectly with Indigenous communities and/or organizations is an asset.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, including experience with event planning.
• Skills in data analysis and report writing.
• Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
• Personal reference letters from an Indigenous community, business, or Indigenous non-profit organization may be included as part of the application.

Pay Range: CAD $74,000 - $92,000 per year
The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
