The Indigenous Recruitment and Student Engagement Officer is responsible for leading recruitment and access initiatives that promote Canadore College and the First Peoples' Centre (FPC) to prospective Indigenous learners. This includes organizing community outreach, facilitating campus tours, delivering presentations, and representing the College at recruitment events across Ontario.



The incumbent will play a key role in supporting pathway navigation and coordinating culturally grounded engagement activities that build strong connections with Indigenous communities, high schools, adult learning centres, and educational partners.



This position requires frequent travel, confident public speaking and sustained relationship-building with Indigenous communities and partners.



Qualifications:



The incumbent has lived experience as a First Nation, Metis or Inuit person Two (2) Year Diploma in Business Management, Marketing, Advertising, Media, Public Relations, Communications, Indigenous Relations, Office Administration or a related field Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in Indigenous education, community outreach, learner engagement, or a related field Experience in coordinating events, supporting diverse learners (including youth, mature students, and adult learners) and liaising with First Nations education counsellors, schools or Indigenous community organizations Demonstrated strength in public speaking and presentation delivery. Ability to build respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, and confidence representing an organization in both formal and informal educational settings Demonstrated experience with event planning and marketing Familiarity with postsecondary systems and Indigenous education pathways is considered an asset Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously Availability and flexibility for extensive domestic travel from early September to the end of November annually. International travel may be required. Valid Ontario Driver's License and Canadian passport required In-person, on-campus position. Must be able to reliably commute to North Bay, ON

Responsibilities:



Represent the College at Indigenous-focused recruitment events including APSIP tours, high school presentations, community visits, and education/career fairs. Promote connection, belonging and student success throughout the academic year Prepare and maintain the annual fall recruitment schedule and coordinate all external recruitment travel Serve as the key liaison for Indigenous secondary school students, parents, guidance counsellors, and adult learners. Coordinate communications, organize campus visits and respond to inquiries related to admissions and college programs Coordinate and deliver on-campus recruitment events, including open houses, Indigenous campus tours, Indigenous Student Information Days and onboarding sessions. Collaborate with the First Peoples' Centre and Student Services for transitional support lunch and learns and workshops Develop and implement a recruitment plan aligned with Indigenous education strategies and best practices, informed by data, market research and past experiences Track, analyze, and report on recruitment outcomes, presentations, school visits, and event attendance. Provide regular updates to the Director and contribute to strategic planning Support the development and coordination of promotional materials, social media content, and communication with prospective students in collaboration with the College's Marketing department and the First Peoples' Centre. Provide administrative support for recruitment initiatives, including mailouts, data entry, student ambassador coordination, booking logistics, etc. Other duties as assigned
