Position Responsibilities
The Centre of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship (CTLS) at Red Deer Polytechnic is currently inviting applications for an Indigenous Learning Designer (Conditional Probationary Continuous) position.
The Indigenous Learning Designer will:Engage with Schools, programs, faculty, and services, focusing on Indigenous Education in six key areas: program development and redevelopment; curriculum design and pedagogy; teaching development; learning spaces; educational technologies; and flexible delivery
Demonstrate a strong background in traditional and online pedagogy and instruction, application of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to the learning environment, integration of educational technology including learning management systems, and curriculum development and review for post-secondary programming
Collaborate with the Indigenous Initiatives department on teaching and learning opportunities of mutual interest, including but not limited to: community engagement, programming for faculty, staff, and students, and classroom instruction
Play a crucial role in supporting the integration of Indigenous knowledge and cultural practices into educational settings within outdoor environments
Work as part of integrated and fast paced teams to create quality learning experiences and environments for all RDP learners
Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in Indigenous Education, Adult Education / Learning Design or Master's Degree and related experience
Demonstrated expertise in: program development and redevelopment, curriculum design and pedagogy, flexible learning, teaching development, learning spaces, and educational technologies focused on Indigenous Education
Teaching experience at a post-secondary level
Demonstrated application of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team based context
Commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice
Strong communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action, Treaties, Crown-Indigenous Relations (First Nation, Metis and Inuit)
Experience working with Alberta First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities and organizations
