Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society (LFVAS) is accepting applications for an Indigenous Housing Summer Worker. LFVAS is an Indigenous-led non-profit organization, comprised of a dedicated group of individuals who promote, support, and advocate for services to meet the needs of Indigenous people in Langley.
Reporting to the Housing Team Lead, the Indigenous Housing Summer Worker will assist with the Society's various special events, programs, and services over the summer. The successful applicant will shadow and assist housing outreach workers in providing service to clients by distributing harm reduction supplies, lunches or hygiene products and assisting with intakes; communicate with clients and community partners in person, on the phone or by email; and help staff to organize groups and community events while working as part of a team. This position is ideal for a youth interested in human services, social work, mental health and substance use services, justice.
