Position: Indigenous Cultural ResourceDivision: Strategy and TransformationDepartment: Indigenous InitiativesTerm: 1 Temporary Part Time position available for approximately 18 months.Closing Date: 11/11/2024Labour Group: SCMMAPosting: 3159The type of person we are looking for:Are you a relationship builder? Do you have Indigenous cultural knowledge? Do you know how to make systemic changes? We are seeking a relationship builder and change-maker to join our team as the City\'s new Indigenous Cultural Resource staff member.
The successful candidate, will have cultural knowledge, experience working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and ceremonialists. and the community ties to help the City move towards decolonization and Reconciliation. And they will also have an understanding of colonial and experience in making systemic change.Job Duties:

  • Lead or participate in the development and delivery of cultural training and workshops for City Administration and City Council.
  • Have the education, awareness, and ability to lead in the planning, managing, facilitating and implementing related projects, initiatives, cultural events, and engagement events, working groups and committees.
  • Collaboratively develop and implement short- and long-term plans for engaging with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and ceremonialists from diverse cultures and language groups with different teachings, practices and protocols.
  • Build relationships and partnerships with Indigenous groups and stakeholders.
  • Assist in setting and achieving Reconciliation goals and priorities.
  • Use cultural knowledge to inform the development and review of policies and procedures to ensure alignment with the City\'s commitment to Reconciliation.
