Position Overview
The Child Protection Centre is a multidisciplinary assessment program dedicated to protecting children from maltreatment through the provision of expert assessments to determine the existence or risk of (re)occurrence of abuse or neglect. The Centre provides hospital based acute medical and psychosocial opinions on a consultation basis as well as regular outpatient clinics focusing upon sexual and physical abuse. The Centre also provides consultative and diagnostic services for children and their families where children may be experiencing developmental delays and psychosocial difficulties as a result of abuse or neglect. The Centre also promotes child wellbeing and the protection of children from maltreatment through advocacy, research, and education.
Under the general direction of the Manager of Patient Care, the incumbent functions as a pivotal member of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and provide clinical management to patients with complex health issues within the defined patient population and acts as a resource person to other healthcare professionals and to the community. The Nurse Clinician utilizes advanced skills and knowledge and performs at a high level of independence as a clinical practitioner, leader, consultant and educator. Practices are in accordance with employer policy and professional standards. The Nurse Clinician supports families in Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, Nunavut and Saskatchewan as required.
