We are seeking a skilled and independent Low Voltage Contractor / VoIP Technician to join our team as an independent contractor. We are searching for an experienced technician looking to supplement their current workload, or preferably someone looking to branch out into owning their own business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for doing site pre field visits to determine site readiness. You will be installing and troubleshooting low voltage data cabling. You will be unboxing placing and connecting pre-programmed equipment like firewalls, switches, access points, IP cameras and VoIP telephones. A strong understanding of data cabling, networking, and VoIP or traditional business telephone systems is essential. You have the ability to take photos, notes and put them into a site pre-field report.

Key Responsibilities:

Unbox and set up VoIP telephones at client locations. Connect VoIP phones to the network and ensure they are functioning properly. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VoIP phone setup and connectivity. Ensure proper configuration and integration with existing network infrastructure. Provide on-site support and maintenance for low voltage systems. Assist with data cabling tasks, including installation and termination. Perform regular system checks and updates to ensure optimal performance. Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, and maintenance activities. Collaborate with other IT professionals and contractors to deliver seamless service to clients. Walk new customers through basic system operation once installed.

Requirements:

Must pass a criminal record check. Proven experience as a Low Voltage Contractor or IT Technician. Strong understanding of data cabling, networking, and VoIP systems. Familiarity with traditional or VoIP business telephone systems. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Possess basic hand tools & ladders required for low voltage cabling installations. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications in networking or VoIP technologies (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Low voltage ticket). Experience with specific VoIP systems (e.g., Cisco, Avaya, Mitel,or any hosted service). Knowledge of network security best practices.
