As the Inclusion Facilitator, you will be responsible for providing support to the Head Instructor, as well as Instructors within a specific camp program. The Inclusion Facilitator will provide assistance to campers who may need additional support strategies in order to be fully included in the camp program. The Inclusion Facilitator works as part of a team to ensure a safe, productive, and enjoyable experience for all campers.

WHAT IS AMAZING ABOUT THIS JOB:




Supervise assigned camper(s), learning their name(s) on the first day, and always knowing their whereabouts Foster a sense of community within assigned camper group where individuals care for/are mindful of one another Provide 1-to-1, or 1-to-2 inclusion support to campers with exceptionalities Create programming to integrate campers with exceptionalities into camp activities Communicate regularly with parents of assigned camper providing regular feedback about camper's experience at camp Provide support to the Instructors, helping to ensure that camp activities are inclusive to all participants Correct and redirect inappropriate camper behaviours Participate actively in all camp programs where appropriate, based on needs of assigned camper(s) Follow all Appleby College Camp procedures and policies, including Appleby's Mutual Respect policy Participate in all required training related to Health & Safety

YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:




Applicants for this position should have completed a minimum of Secondary School prior to the start of the camp program Experience working with children with special needs, children with behavioral exceptionalities Experience providing programming or care to persons with disabilities Experience working/volunteering with children in a camp setting is preferred Education background in Special Education, Personal Support worker (PSW), Developmental Services Worker (DSW) or Therapeutic Recreation considered is an asset Any additional training in mental health first aid, crisis intervention, PSW, DSW is an asset Excellent time management, organization & communication skills Team-oriented, motivational, and creative Energetic and enthusiastic Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification in lifeguarding is an asset

Program Hours

- Monday: 7:15 a.m.-4:15 p.m. - Tuesday-Friday: 8:15 a.m.-4:15 p.m.

Before- and After-Care

Additional shifts may be scheduled. - Before-Care: 7:15-8:15 a.m. - After-Care: 4:15-5:30 p.m.

WORKPLACE REQUIREMENTS:



Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening (18+) OR declaration for those under 18 Standard First Aid and CPR-C (valid until end of contract)
