ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT: The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) Specialist will partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion standards are embedded within the organization\xe2\x80\x99s processes, policies, operations and services in support of creating and sustaining a safe, accessible and inclusive workplace. This position will promote the values of inclusivity, diversity and continuous learning and development to support both the physical and psychological safety, engagement and effectiveness of ONTC\xe2\x80\x99s workforce and leaders. MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the implementation and compliance for all aspects of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 including the maintenance of the company\xe2\x80\x99s Multi-year Accessibility Plan (MYAP), training requirements, accessible employment policies and accessible feedback mechanisms
  • Ensure all policies and all training material, is reflective of all current legislative requirements and up to date, delivered and tracked for compliance reporting
  • Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee and Accessibility Committee
  • Complete all compliance reporting and/or audits as directed by Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility
  • Maintain awareness of legislation, regulations, standards and best practices related to accessibility and accommodations for persons with disabilities
  • Provide expertise and act as a strategic advisor in matters related to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity
  • Support employee relations as well as initiatives geared to under-represented talent that promote diversity, equity and accessibility values at Ontario Northland
  • Provide updates to the ONTC\xe2\x80\x99s action plan on Diversity & Inclusion
  • Develop and maintain the Human Resources French Language Services plan in adherence with French Language Services Act (FLSA) and company policy
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communication, Recruitment and HR team to develop processes to comply with FLSA

REQUIREMENTS:
  • University degree in a related field, preferably social justice, social studies, human rights, human resources, business or public administration or political science
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in relevant field e.g., Disability Management, Occupational Health, Accessibility, Disability studies or Social work
  • Minimum of 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the development and implementation of policies, programs and initiatives, preferably in the public sector.
  • Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP) certification, Leadership Diversity and/or Inclusion Certificate
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Accessibilities for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the federal ATPDR Act, French Language Services Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Canadian Human Rights Act and Employment Equity Act
  • Proficiency in both official languages preferred (English and French)
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, training and presentation skills
  • Broad understanding of current social issues and the impact of those issues related to achieving a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work well with diverse internal groups and all levels within the organization
  • Experience in coordinating and supporting an advisory committee is considered an asset
  • Creative and proactive self-starter who possesses a high attention to detail, strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Experience writing compliance reports is considered an asset
