Job Overview

Toronto Education and Employment Agency Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Immigration Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting clients with immigration matters, including advising on visa options, preparing and submitting applications, representing clients in hearings and appeals, as well as providing legal consultations and support for humanitarian applications.

Responsibilities

- Conduct consultations with clients to assess their immigration needs, informing them of their legal rights, and addressing their inquiries related to Canadian laws

- Prepare legal documents and statements of legal opinion

- Draft federal, provincial, or territorial government bills

- Plead clients' cases before courts of law, tribunals, and boards

- Negotiate settlements of civil disputes

- Represent interests of corporation/employer in all business related to legal matters

- Offer mediation, conciliation, and arbitration services

- Supervise professional paralegals, support staff, and articling students

- Research legal precedents and gather evidence

- Supervises 3-4 personnel

Requirements

Law degree and licence to practice law in Canada

- Member of the Law Society of Ontario

- Minimum of 2-5 years of Canadian law experience

- Previous work experience in Immigration and Refugee Law

- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, meet strict deadlines, and manage a large workload/caseload

- Work with integrity, effective communication, good judgement, and a client-focused initiative

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

North York, ON M2M 3W4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:

Immigration and Regufee Law: 2 years (required)
