We\'re looking to hire an associate criminal lawyer to join our growing law firm. Lawyer UP Canada is quickly becoming the go-to criminal law firm for people in Ontario facing serious criminal and related legal problems. The only prerequisites for this position are an interest and experience in criminal defense work, a desire to win, and a willingness and appetite for hard work. The associate will be expected to carry their own caseload, and will be responsible for their own files. Mentoring and training will be available, and supports with legal research tools will be provided. The associate will be responsible for conducting bail hearings, reviewing disclosure, interviewing witnesses and drafting affidavits, conducting legal research and developing a defence strategy, conducting Crown Pre-Trials and Judicial Pre-Trials, and conducting guilty plea hearings, peace bond hearings, preliminary inquiries and trials. We\'ll pay your Law Society Fees, LawPRO fees, and cell phone bill. The position is remote so you can work anywhere you like. You\'ll have access to our Richmond Hill office and boardroom for meetings with clients. While most court appearances are still being done virtually, you\'ll need access to a car for the odd in-person court appearance. Anyone interested is welcome to apply.
